The middle pyramid of Khefren is the only one than still having the remaining of the outer casing of the fine limestone. The smallest pyramid of king Mykerinus must have been extremely beautiful as it was once coated with pink granite.
The Sphinx & Valley Temple
The Sphinx is one of the best known monuments on Earth and dates back over 4,500 years to the Old Kingdom and the time of king Khafre – builder of the second largest pyramid on the Giza plateau on Cairo’s outskirts. The head of the Sphinx probably depicts Khafre, while the body is that of a recumbent lion. In front of the Sphinx is its temple, while adjacent to it is the better preserved Valley Temple of Khafre. A causeway, seen behind the Sphinx, connected Khafre’s Mortuary Temple next to his pyramid with the Valley Temple. Lunch will be served at good quality restaurant around pyramids area.
Saqqara Tour
Saqqara is an ancient necropolis in northern Egypt near Giza. It contains a number of fascinating funerary monuments, including tombs, mastabas, temples and pyramids.
The Step Pyramid of Djoser (Zoser) in Saqqara is the oldest stone pyramid in Egypt and an important development in Ancient Egyptian architecture. The Step Pyramid was built for the pharaoh Djoser by his architect Imhotep. Djoser’s pyramid was a revolutionary design. Previously, pharaohs were buried in rectangular mastabas Imhotep created a pyramid by stacking six mastabas on top of each other.
Memphis and its Necropolis
Memphis became the capital of Ancient Egypt for over eight consecutive dynasties during the Old Kingdom. The city reached a peak of prestige under the 6th dynasty as a centre for the worship of Ptah, the god of creation and artworks. The alabaster sphinx that guards the Temple of Ptah serves as a memorial of the city’s former power and prestige. The Memphis triad, consisting of the creator god Ptah, his consort Sekhmet, and their son Nefertem, formed the main focus of worship in the city. Memphis declined briefly after the 18th dynasty with the rise of Thebes and the New Kingdom, and was revived under the Persians before falling firmly into second place following the foundation of Alexandria. Transfer to your hotel in Cairo for check in for overnight stay.

Day # 2) Egyptian Museum & Citadel Tours – El Gouna
Breakfast at your hotel in Cairo, then you will be picked up by your Egyptologist tour guide to visit the Old Cairo attractions
Tour The Egyptian Museum in Cairo
Egyptian Museum on Tahrir square in the heart of Cairo, where the Egyptian revolution took place in Jan 25 against Mubarak regime. The Egyptian Museum contains some 150.000 artifacts created over a period of more than 5,000 years. It was designed in 1896 by the French Architect Marcel Dourgnon in the neo-classic style that suits the ancient and classical monuments. The artifacts are distributed in two main floors. The lower one contains the heavy monuments such as stone sarcophagi, statues, stelae, and wall reliefs. The upper floor contains the thematic exhibits manuscripts, statues of deities, royal mummies, objects of daily life, mummy portraits, unfinished sculptures, Greco-Roman statuettes and vases, and artifacts of the afterlife, and the most important is that of king Tutankhamun.
The Citadel of Saladin in Cairo
Before Saladin came the local rulers of Cairo had overlooked the strategic value of the Mokattam hill above the city. But within a few years of his arrival in Cairo in 1168, Saladin began making plans for the defense of the city with al-Qala’a – the Citadel – as the key element. In the 12th century, Saladin and his successors built an impenetrable bastion in the Citadel, using the most advanced construction techniques of the age. For the next 700 years, Egypt was ruled from this hill. Nothing remains of the original fortress except a part of the walls and Bir Yusuf, the well that supplied the Citadel with water.
Mohamed Ali Mosque
Completed in 1848, the Ottoman-style Muhammad ‘Ali Mosque or Alabaster Mosque is the most noticeable in all of Cairo; for more than 150 years it has dominated the skyline. The mosque is classically Turkish in style, reflecting its Ottoman origins. The cascading domes, slender minarets, constellation of hanging globe lamps, richly decorated ceiling and spacious interior all recall the great mosques of Istanbul.
